Campaigns Committee

What does the committee do?

The Campaigns Committee organises the college welfare campaigns, promoting education, social inclusion, and intersectionality. It forms one half of our Castle Welfare Team (alongside the Welfare Committee), putting on campaigns such as SHAG Week, the Culture Festival, Pride Week and many more! These campaigns often feature key events in the college social calendar, such as the 'SHAG Party' (in our college bar), Culture and Pride formals, and many more events to get involved with!

The Campaigns Committee is chaired by the JCR Campaigns Officer and is made up of 3 assistants and 7 Community Officers (LGBTQ+, Ethnic Minorities, Northern, Disabilities, Working Class and International Officers, and our Accommodation Representative).

How can I get involved?

It's easy to get involved with the Campaigns Committee and the events we organise!

The events organised by the committee are open to all! In the past, these have included BSL Workshops, Chinese Tea Tasting Ceremonies, Movie Nights and Visits to York Christmas Market. Some require you to reserve a spot (such as themed formals or day trips), but often you can just show up! Anything we organise will be advertised on Instagram (@castlewelfare) and on the Castle Freshers Facebook group.

Applications come out towards the end of Easter Term, but there are many opportunities to get involved with events before that!
