The JCR Levy is a one-off membership to the JCR that you can purchase at the start of your degree.
It really is a must-have to get the best experience and to make the most of college life. For most people, you’ll easily make your money back and more by the end of your degree!

The wristband provides you with access to Castle Freshers’ Week. This includes exciting daytime events, icebreakers, club nights, and more! This is a requirement to access Castle Freshers’ Week.
Beware of scams! This is the only wristband that provides access to Castle Freshers' Week!

Gowns are an important part of the history of University College dating back to its founding in 1832. They are worn at formal events throughout the year and at Matriculation during Induction Week.
Freshers will be contacted closer to the beginning of term via their Durham email to purchase these extras!
Second Hand Gowns
We have some second hand gowns available in a variety of sizes. These are subject to availability. This year, they are priced at £20. If you would like to register your interest for a second hand gown, please click the link below and fill in your details before Saturday 19th September 2025. This does not guarantee you a second hand gown but we will do our best to fairly distribute the limited supply that we have.

Matriculation Photo
This is a year group wide photo taken just after you have been matriculated which most students buy and keep as a token. The date of the photo will be Tuesday, 30th September 2025.
