Kirstie-Lauryn Kwakye

I'm Kirstie-Lauryn, and I am the JCR Chair for this academic year! I'm a third year Physics and Philosophy student, so I'll be easy to find in the Lowe Library. As your Chair, I am the final arbiter of our Standing Orders (the college constitution). Whenever there's procedural ambiguity that can't obviously be resolved by referring to the SO, it's my job to provide an interpretation that allows us to move forward. Ultimately, I ensure that fairness is preserved across the JCR, in keeping with the SO. I'll be involved in running college elections, running JCR meetings (please come along!), and chairing various committees, including selection committees. Getting involved in the JCR may seem daunting, but hopefully, you'll come to find that it's incredibly easy and rewarding to do so!

Outside college, I can be found in choir, enjoying the many cafés and nature walks in Durham, or escaping to Edinburgh for the weekend. Please don't hesitate to say hello, or reach out to me if you have any questions regarding procedural ongoings in the JCR, or anything else!

Favourite Castle Memory: The ABBA tribute act at my first June Ball, even though the great hall felt like a sauna. My love for ABBA is unparalleled.
